We're upgrading water pipes in your area
We’ll start work on 9 November to install nearly 4 kilometres of brand-new water pipes in Little Hale, Heckington and Burton Pedwardine. This £1.1 million investment will help reduce leaks, bursts and interruptions to your water supply. We expect to finish in March 2027.
How might the work affect you?
We’ll need to close the roads listed below because they’re too narrow for traffic to pass our working area safely. We’ve explored using nearby fields and verges, but tree roots, ditches and other constraints make this impractical.
Here’s what we’ll have in place to keep everyone safe while we work:

Some work will take place over one night between 10 and 15 November to keep disruption to water supplies to a minimum. We’ll keep noise as low as possible.
You can continue using your water and sewerage services as normal. If we need to briefly turn off your water, we’ll let you know in advance.
Protecting water supplies during the hosepipe ban
Even though we’ve had rain, it takes more than a few wet days to replenish our water sources after months of exceptionally dry weather. Dry ground needs to absorb moisture before more rain can filter down to underground supplies, and
our rivers and reservoirs need prolonged rainfall to recover. That’s why the temporary hosepipe ban remains in place, helping to protect water supplies and the environment while they recover.
During our work, you may see us releasing water from the new pipes. We understand this may seem wasteful during a hosepipe ban, but flushing removes sediment and is an essential, permitted activity that helps us bring the pipes into use safely.
We also carry out strict water quality checks before connecting the pipes to homes and businesses. You may notice pauses in work while we wait for test results before moving to the next stage.
